Symphony Koss is a rising senior studying Product Design Engineering and Women’s Health at Stanford University. She is from Vancouver, Washington and is half-Taiwanese and half-white as her family is from Taiwan and Norway. Symphony is passionate about women’s reproductive health because after her own struggles with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome and struggling to get the care and treatment that she needed, she realized that there is an immense amount of time, work and money needed to increase access to women’s healthcare and advance current reproductive products for future generations of women. In her free time, she enjoys singing, playing violin, running, swimming in the ocean, reading romance novels, and cooking delicious meals.
Symphony is joining Design for Bangladesh as a Teaching Fellow. She believes our interdisciplinary version of design-thinking that also integrates programming and policy analysis is crucial because the world cannot run without both disciplines – design and programming – working in harmony. Symphony is excited to join Design for Bangladesh because there are still so many challenges in the world that still need to be addressed, and are not. Now more than ever, we need passionate and empathetic students who have the hearts to make lasting change and impact on this world. She is proud and excited that she gets to work with such amazing students, and cannot wait to see what they accomplish this summer.
